Crafting Intuitive Solutions for Product Detail Pages

During the pandemic, I worked as a Senior Product Designer at Lowe’s, where I was responsible for enhancing the Product Detail Page (PDP) experience. My primary focus was to create a user-friendly interface that clearly communicated product details and features in an intuitive manner, enabling customers to make informed purchasing decisions effortlessly. A seamless UX was critical to helping users understand product offerings and click the purchase button with confidence, directly driving sales.

Collaborating with UX/UI designers, developers, executives, and the product experience leader, I contributed to crafting a streamlined PDP experience that prioritized clarity and usability.

Context: Competitive Pricing PDP

The challenge at Lowe’s was clear: customers were struggling to navigate the Product Detail Page (PDP), especially when comparing products that appeared similar but were priced differently. This uncertainty disrupted their shopping experience, leading to hesitation and missed conversion opportunities.

To address this, I focused on understanding customer pain points and crafting a design solution that would provide clarity, build trust, and guide decision-making. By conducting user research, analyzing PDP performance data, and mapping customer journeys, I identified key friction points in the decision-making process.

As part of the process, I developed a high-fidelity prototype to test proposed design solutions with real users. This allowed me to validate the effectiveness of features such as comparison tables that highlighted product differences, tooltips explaining pricing components, and a section showcasing competitively priced alternatives. Feedback from these tests informed refinements, resulting in a PDP that empowered customers to make confident purchasing decisions and improved overall conversions.

Impact

The enhanced PDP design transformed the way customers interacted with product pages. By clearly differentiating similar products and explaining price variations, customers gained a better understanding of their options. This clarity not only simplified decision-making but also led to more confident purchases. As a result, the number of add-to-cart actions increased significantly. The inclusion of interactive elements, such as tooltips and comparison tables, kept users engaged for longer periods, resulting in a deeper exploration of product details. Ultimately, the redesign helped Lowe’s create a seamless shopping experience that increased both conversions and customer satisfaction.

Context: Feature Collection on PDP

The challenge in this project was to enhance the Product Detail Page (PDP) by showcasing how a specific item fits within various collections or looks. Customers wanted to visualize how an item complemented their style or space but lacked a way to see it in context. This gap limited inspiration and reduced the likelihood of purchasing complementary products.

To address this, I conducted research to understand customer preferences and behaviors. Discovery sessions and data analysis highlighted the need to integrate curated collections directly on the PDP.

I developed and refined multiple design concepts, incorporating stakeholder feedback at each stage. Two rounds of user testing validated the solution, ensuring it resonated with customers and made exploring complementary products effortlessly.
